K-Coast Surf Shop
While working for K-Coast Surf Shop as a Creative Intern, I was able to gain a great amount of experience in branding and design for retail. I was first given the opportunity to create a logo for the newly emerging "K-Coast Girl" line for the company. I had to carefully take into account inclusivity and gender identifications, while adhering to the brand identity that the management desired. The result was a logo that could both work as a gender neutral or an exclusively women's brand mark. Consideration was taken towards the color palette, which is composed of light, de-saturated colors for legibility and versatility. A script font was used for the secondary type to give the logo a more playful, loose feel. This logo is currently used on the "K-Coast Girl" social media.
The first of my design work to be sold in stores are the "SUMMER IS A A LIFESTYLE" stickers. Imagery associated with the coastal lifestyle is easily identifiable and the caricatures created add a unique sense of playfulness to the product. These stickers are waterproof and glossed.
The "K-Coast Girl: Surf & Swim" logo was a design created for the tags and identity of a new women's swim line. The company wanted a fun yet luxurious logo in a script font. A more approachable, casual feel is conveyed through the rounded scripts and the sun-like design element above the "o". The use of a rounded script font adds a bit of playfulness while preserving the luxurious look.
The most recent project completed for K-Coast is a black and white vinyl design to be adhered to jackets, shirts, hats, and sweatpants. The objective was to create a design that would be legible at various scales and gender neutral. The mono-weight line work is used in consideration to scalability and the bold fonts towards legibility.
